Strengthening Mental Health Awareness Within the Ugandan Community in Liverpool

MBS for Mental Health Charity was delighted to recently deliver a Mental Health Awareness Session in partnership with the Ugandan Community Association Liverpool. The event brought together members of the local Ugandan community for an engaging and informative discussion focused on mental wellbeing, parenting, resilience, and the importance of seeking support when needed.

The session provided a safe and welcoming environment where participants could openly discuss the challenges that individuals and families face while balancing the pressures of modern life, work, parenting, and adapting to life in the UK. Through interactive discussions, attendees explored practical ways of maintaining good mental health and supporting the wellbeing of their loved ones.

A key area of focus was positive parenting and parenting styles, helping participants understand how different approaches to parenting can influence children’s emotional development, confidence, and overall wellbeing. The session highlighted the importance of creating supportive family environments that encourage open communication, healthy boundaries, and emotional resilience.

The event also provided an opportunity for community members to share experiences, learn from one another, and strengthen social connections. Building strong community networks is an essential part of promoting mental wellbeing, reducing isolation, and ensuring that people know where to access support when they need it.

We are grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to the discussions. The enthusiasm and participation demonstrated the importance of continuing conversations about mental health within our communities.

At MBS for Mental Health Charity, we remain committed to reducing stigma, increasing awareness, and delivering culturally appropriate mental health support that empowers individuals and families to thrive.

Together, we can continue building healthier, stronger, and more resilient communities.
